I work seasonally and then travel between seasons. I also do a little bit of freelance writing....and my latest thing is teaching myself computer programming so I can develop some iPhone apps.

Thanks! I do want to try solo camping sometime...actually, I'd just like to go camping sometime, lol. Ever since I started working, it's been tough organizing anything!! It's definitely made me consider my priorities and what I want to do/accomplish in the long-run. How are you able to finance your traveling?

@Jessica
Definitely love the freedom and flexibility solo travel allows. I had some anxiety about going solo when I first started traveling. I went on few local solo camping excursions for a few days before making the jump to a 2 month solo road trip. The fear of going solo fades fast once you do it a few times. Go for it and photo document your adventure -- love the photos on your blog!

I found your site through Professional Hobo's page!

I enjoyed reading about your trip-- I made a 2 week roadtrip from Houston, TX to Los Angeles, CA, 3 years ago while I was in graduate school (between semesters) with 2 friends. We hit up some of the same places you did, although we spent more time at Big Bend to go on a canoeing trip. We also went to Grand Canyon although we didn't get to hike down (I'll have to do more prep before that, haha). Honestly, I don't think Grand Canyon is terribly exciting if you just stay on top and look around.

Anyway, ever since then I've always wanted to go on another bigger, greater roadtrip! The first time I went, I had wanted to save money and camp the majority time, but one of my friends going with me wasn't big on camping, so we only camped twice-- you're totally right about how hotel costs add up very quickly!!

I can see the advantages of going solo-- being able to go where you want, do what you want, and all when you want! I've always been afraid to travel solo and I think it's impressive that you've been able to do it!

Now if I could just pay off my debts and start saving up for a long-term trip, haha.

Thank you so much, Sue, for sharing a week in your life with my readers. I too, have found that travel has changed my perspective on a lot of things, as I sit in my home town of Toronto, where I have come for a visit before I continue on my way.
